'We could all live under this... illusion. The illusion that a child is born, they're raised by 2 loving, caring parents. The child goes to school, learns all the lessons and skills needed to go through life, and makes friends. Friends turn to best friends, best friends turn to significant others, then to ex's and so on. The child then graduates high school, goes to college, gets a degree and enjoys a steady career. They eventually meet someone special, feel that they cannot live without that person, and marry. Then come new children, and the cycle continues. Yes, the child learned lessons throughout the cycle. They had up-times and down-times, miserable moments and the happiest days of their lives. But most cannot swear on blood and tears, casualties from their past, or days they fear of looking back on. And most cannot sit for weeks on end with a smile from ear to ear, reliving the greatest and most joyous days and events they have endured.
I'll let you in darling.
I grew up in a very strict home, a place where my mother recorded over kissing in a movie because it was too graphic for her children. A home where the children were sent to strict Baptist schools, and were sheltered from anything that was less inviting than the snuggles bear. I was clueles when it came to sex, I had no clue where a baby came from, and when I started my period at 10 years old I knew that I had to shove this thing called a tampon up this foreign hole, but I had no idea why. I didn't know sex was enjoyable for women. I didn't know anything.
I've been lied to, I've been robbed, I've been taken advantage of, and I've been backstabbed. I've been cheated on, sworn at, lied about, humiliated, raped, beaten, abused, and been left for dead. And I can look you in the eye with a smile on my face and tell you everything happens for a reason. I can look you in the eye and tell you about a man who beat me within an inch of my life, and shed a tear of sorrow for him. Because even though I learned hard, life-changing lessons from him, he learned an even harder lesson. Life is what it is, and it is all for a reason. Karma... is not a force to toy with.'
