IF STAYING HEALTHY doesn't motivate you to exercise, maybe this will: Not only does working out improve sexual function, but new research suggests it can boost your "sexual self-esteem." At the University of Arkansas, 408 students were asked about their fitness routines and sex lives; 88 percent of women and 69 percent of men who worked out four to five days a week rated their sexual performance above average or way above average. In addition, they "perceived themselves as more confident and sexually desirable," says Tina M. Penhollow, M.S., co-author of the study. She points out that regular exercise can also help prevent the decline in sexual performance and satisfaction that often accompanies aging. We knew sweating was sexy.
