It's A Happy Hooker That Works Legally

Legal prostitutes are just as happy as women with regular day jobs, according to a survey reporting high job satisfaction in parts of the sex industry. But illegal sex workers who sell sex on the streets had a much grimmer outlook, with half saying they had been raped or bashed in the past year.

The unique survey compared the mental and physical health of nearly 250 Queensland prostitutes, aged 18 to 57, who worked in registered brothels, at home or street side. Legal workers reported similar job satisfaction to women in the general community, but street workers were far less happy in the job.

"The general picture is that those women whose families know about their work reported greater job satisfaction than those who kept their work secret," said researcher Charrlotte Seib.
Asked why they entered the sex industry, 82% per cent said they did it for the money and 52% pointed to the flexible working hours. And 39% said they had a particular goal in mind such as new car, a house or a holiday," said Ms Seib, from Queensland University of Technology.

One in four of the women surveyed had a Bachelor degree or higher, which is contrary to the popular stereotype that sex workers come from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. More than 60% were employed before joining the industry.

Great article, blows some of the sterotypes away. For hobbyists, it shows that hiring a professional escort is a much better way to experience satisfaction with a sp. Someone who is happy doing what they are doing, is far more likely to make your experience more enjoyable and safe.

Awesome post. It is a bit stressful when we have to keep our job (I call it play) secret. But once a few trusted people know it takes a big burden off one's shoulders. I still work a regular job, but I can honestly say I enjoy being an escort. I meet interesting people and I truly enjoy what I do as long as it is good safe fun.

I feel this business should be legal everywhere. I have chosen it because it allows me financial freedom, independence, encount ers without commitment . The only problem I have ever had with this business is the moral judgement from others. In 2011 people are still relatively closed minded.
