Believe me, Bangkok is one of the safer cities in the world. Unless you venture into " don't go areas" or behave stupid - nothing is happening to you here. But then that's the same in many big cities.
But for the south of Thailand (well that's 800 km away from Bangkok, just near the border with Malaysia) - be careful to go there - if me - i say - stay away from that area.

Here is the list of public holidays in Thailand for the month of May
1st - 7th and 31st of May are public holidays. Companies, Bank and Government offices are closed. Otherwise - Bangkok is open 24/7 - and so is Mike for you - haha
