November 4th...
.. it'll soon be Chtristmas! This year really, really does seem to have come and gone in a blur. Maybe it's the mild temperatures and the weather we've experienced this year, or maybe it's just a sign I'm getting older!?I have to say that this is the first year I've noticed shops kitting up for Christmas BEFORE Halloween and Bonfire Night have passed. I'm sure that once this weekend is over the Christmas big push will begin - but it does genuinely seem to get earlier every year!
It's been a rather uneventful week for me, especially given the trials and tribulations of the last few weeks - not that I'm complaining. One event of note was the a phonecall out of the blue from my ex-girlfriend. I never expected to hear from her again given the very acrimonious break-up we went through. I'm not sure her contact/invitation was welcome - I have to admit being somewhat touched by her invitation, although I have made it clear that friends or not, I really don't want anything more to do with her regardless of the circumstances. What's passed has passed. I'm no longer a part of her life, she's no longer a part of mine. Regardless of how much I admire and respect her; irrespective of how proud I was/am of her - "WE" are no more, so I should play no part in her celebrations and had to turn her invite down.
I've spent most of the week in and out of the gym and catching up on my reading. I am a voracious reader. Read two books of interest this week. The first one being SOFT TARGET by Stephen leather. All I'll say on this is that the parallels with what happened on the 7th July and the immediate aftermath are incredible - especially given that this book was written last year and on the shelves at Christmas time LAST YEAR!
I'm also a sucker for a good conspiracy theory - whether there's anyhting in it or not... NIGHTFALL by NELSON DE MILLE is a work of fiction based on a real life event - TWA flight 800... left new York and crashed just off of Long Island - officially an electrical fault causing a spark in an empty fuel tank although there were many people saying it had been brought down by a surface to air missile... It's a gripping story that, although most definitely fiction, you could believe it actually being true.
Anyway - here's hoping for an evenful forthcoming week - for all the RIGHT reasons! (I'm running out of books!!!)
