Are sp's scarred for life?
I was reading this post by a gentleman and it got me thinking of yet another stereotype associated with this proffesion. This man had posted that girls in this industry are scarred for life and that personalities become tarnished, basically that we forget who we are. He said that once sweet girls we forget who we are and become phony etc...
Well, for those who think this way, I ask you do you behave differently when you are at work? Do you behave differently when you are visiting family and friends? Do you behave differently when in a bar etc...
I think this is no different than any other occupation. (in some aspects anyways) Yes, it involves sex and we have our good clients and our bad ones. But, we all chose what occupation we do unless we have been forced to do it. (unfortunatly there is those stories as well) But, independants can chose who we see and how many (unlike some other occupations) Yes, there is girls who become burnt out from over work trying to make as much as they can in as short of time as possible. I also find that those ones take time off and come back just as good as before.
Any job can be over demanding at times, but in another job you have no choice in the matter. You have to be there from 9-5 and do what the boss expects from you. You have to see the clients that your boss assigns to you to make a sell. You have to fill out all the paper work and file it correctly and meet your deadlines etc...
What about surgeons racing against a clock to save a life. To my understanding this can be a long and frustrating occupation as well. Then to deal with relatives and friends of a victim if all fails etc... They cannot say I refuse to see this poor soul as it looks to complicated and the family looks too ready to snap if I fail.
Yes, we sp's see people with problems and they come to see us to ease their pains as well. But, for the most part they are very nice people too. Plus, it is nice to view others as human with problems and to sit and talk as well. We get to meet a lot of people that come from all corners of the world with different cultural backgrounds and different families and different view points. I think this adds some knowledge to brain banks and makes us great in judgements of who to see and who not to see as well. I think we gain a deeper understanding of humans as a total. I'd say this is a good thing not a bad thing.
I also see many threads started by people asking, "Would you marry an sp or would you date an sp?
I really wonder why some men think we are any less human than anyone else when I see posts like this.
If a man is open minded himself, yet they always seem to seek open minded sp's. lol I cannot count how many e-mails I have received asking if I am open minded. What exactly do men consider open minded anyhow? I wish they would be more specific as to what they seek rather than asking only this question. But, anyhow... I can see how the occupation can bother some if they are a jealous type, but if they it is because they think we are morally scarred and cannot be a caring person or cannot mingle properly in society. I have to disagree.
I still go out and people are non the wiser as to what I do. I still mix and mingle in society and my neighbors think I am the kindest person in the world. I know how to greet people and yes, I like everyone else can change to the environment around me.
Also why is it looked upon worse to be an sp than to be in an open minded relationship that involves a husband and a wife going to a swingers club? Is it only because they do not get paid to fulfil their own sexual fantasies?
Does not all happenings in life shape who we are? Could this occupation in the end not make us even better?
