Philippine law says prostitution is illegal and no matter what we say here in this forum, the law still stands in the country until repelled or amended. Though illegal, it is somehow tolerated due to some reasons like economic and, social needs of customers to include the authorities or legislators (perhaps) in the customers list. We may regard the authorities and legislators including lobbyists as hypocrites, but they could not and they will not still come out in the open expressing their real feelings or stand on the issue, due to their political and societal status.
We members of this site are open to express our opinions or thoughts here about the issue and basically we are in favor of the industry. But to the authorities and legislators, they're not since they're governed by protocol and ethics even though they may favor such. So they maybe as well be tolerated with their hypocrisy in the same way prostitution which is illegal in this country is tolerated. This makes and leaves the issue far from being resolved in this country. -------------------- Plan your moves then move your plan...for moves without proper planning brings catastrophe!

It's a shame so many countries throughout the world feel the need to legislate sexual morals, but then, look the other way & tolerate sex. Isn't this hypocritical?

In Sweden on the other hand prostitution was legal for a very long time. Not long ago they have changed their laws there. Offering sex for money is legal, but paying for sex is illegal. Think of the consequences of such a law for providers and clients. Aren't they clever these Swedes? This is a nice info (on Sweden) ToniW! In my personal opinion or reading of their action regarding this, It seems the lawmakers saw something or some flaws on the law they passed long time ago. Another possibility is that there are oppositions or pressures from a strong sector of the society, seeing the effects or whatsoever of the said Prostitution Legalization law. Now repealling the law would probably bump another opposition group, or would bring criticisms or shame on the parliament, so simply they just amended/modified the law to become inutile in itself. These Swedes are clever indeed! LOL -------------------- Plan your moves then move your plan...for moves without proper planning brings catastrophe!

Nymph, you have articulated well the situation in our country regarding the prostitution issue. Well said and all agree, coz we believe we know better our country.
If I may just add, not all Christian churches in our country has the same stand on various moral issues as such or related to such. For example, the "Reproductive Health" using condoms. It is the Vatican stand (before) that has crept and is creeping in our catholic parishes here. Other Christian churces like most of the protestant sects (which I belong) are not that oppositionists on the use of condoms in particular. Going back to the main issue of Legalizing Prostitution here in our country, again it is the catholic church leading the charge raising hell on the issue. You've mentioned the influence of the catholic church centuries ago..., yes it is because that is what our colonizer (not colonizers) used in adulterating our serene and sane minds. We remember our history that the Spaniards held a sword at the right hand and cross at the left hand. Using the cross, they clouded the minds of the natives with their christian teachings which is good to us but later on "abused it by introducing adulterated dogma and beliefs" that helped them control us over four centuries. Some if not most of these adulterated dogma and beliefs (which they maybe laughing at) are still in the Filipino way today. But on this prostitution legalization issue, I believe we could hardly do this by now since majority of small christian churches will ally with the catholic church because of the reason of morality (if not hypocricy) in opposing it. Maybe all of us in this forum (including me) wants it for practicality and rationality, but...but I think we are not yet ready at this time and nobody would want to move from among our leaders. Perhaps this is now the effect of the adulterated teachings before like for example, "follow the moral, even if it is not practical or rational" or else we will excommunicate you from the church or recommend for your execution if you go against them. It was then the church that was too powerful during their colonization reign. They can even overthrow their own government leadership if the head (Gov. Gen.) does not follow their "bigot" advices or whims (based on hidden history). When will we be ready then? I do not know, only time and situation will tell. -------------------- Plan your moves then move your plan...for moves without proper planning brings catastrophe!

Hi Dohm,
I am facing a little problem, now. We discuss hypocrisy on this field in different threads. That is why I just want to give you a thesis at this place. I will later justify it in the thread "Satire, Sarcasm, Hypocrisy", which I have started. Your above posted opinion/argumentation is well known. With regards to hypocrisy my thesis: The biggest hypocrites in this concern are providers and their clients themselves! Think about it, please. I try to acount for my thesis as soon as possible. :) |

Okay Luli, just to be clear, my argumentation with Nymph is on Legalization of Prostitution in the Philippines not possible these times or shall we say 5 years (my estimate or prediction).
On the issue of hypocrisy as presented in your post/s and supplemented with other posts, the church was highlighted or included and even the government officials as hypocrites in connection with the legalization of the illegal issue at hand. Why? there,s no way that we could spare them when discussing the legal nooks and paramaters of prostitution legalization in countries where it remains illegal because they are viewed as the principal actors of what we are clamoring to legalize... prostitution. Besides, each country has unique reasons and strong factors why they could not. To generalize and assume or assign a perfect common denominator for all of them or some of them (maybe by grouping perhaps) is I think "wrong" or it would not still work since each country has its own identity, history, culture, people mentality and country goals for the future with different approaches. On the part of the Providers and Clients you raised, I do not know what you mean or trying come up with, relative to hypocrisy? I guess you are better ready to discuss this since you've said you are preparing justifications if I got it right? We might opt to wait for that for more focused discussions at the same time we will be learning from your research. Thank you and I guess we're really enjoying here! -------------------- Plan your moves then move your plan...for moves without proper planning brings catastrophe!

Dohm, it is great having you here! :)
You are absolutely right, each country has its specials. I have to admit I am not an expert about the Philippines on this field, but concerning hypocrisy I think I can dare to argument. If you expect an expertise from my side about a the Philippines related topic, then it would be better to discuss about the Moros and MILF. May be in pms one day? Give me a little bit time... |

LOL...not exactly that Luli. On the issue of hypocricy on the Providers and Clients you are saying, Maybe I could only better say...what? Are we going to discuss ourselves here? Good if we all belong to the same plane, with the same wings, engines and baggages... I'm not insinuating that I know everything in my country please. In fact I'm still learning that's why I'm taking interest in every circle I got like this (Escorts-related site) where there are people like you and the other members here, whom to listen with their ideas and hoping I can butt in sometimes with my little idea or for clarification purposes. -------------------- Plan your moves then move your plan...for moves without proper planning brings catastrophe!

Do you think complaints in a subculture, or parallel society are enough? An Airbus 380 is ok, and I prefer sitting together with Kitty ;) |

I now get the point that while we discuss the people in the church and governments, why should we not include ourselves? I will be more than willing to participate.
