Tropical Storm Hannah is coming ashore tomorrow or early Saturday. We're holding on to hope here in SC that it won't be bad. I'm sure that others in the Southeast are holding on to hopes that it won't be as bad either. There's two more storms out there right behind it too. One of them which is Hurricane Ike that is already a Category 4 hurricane and will be going over the Bahamas first before going onto somewhere in the US Gulf or Southeastern US. I've been preparing myself just in case Hannah is bad here. Here's holding onto hope and praying that it will not be bad for others or myself.

quote Kotikkk : Those horrific hurricanes, they usually don't reach Carolinas at all, do they? Yes Kotikkk, sometimes they do reach the Carolinas and cause a lot of problems with beach erosian and flooding along with wind damage as well. Tropical Storm Hannah just moved through parts of SC yesterday and in the evening as well. Mostly through the beach areas of SC; and it's been moving along the NC coastline as well. The whole Southeastern shoreline has seen the affects of the storm and now it's moving to the Northeastern shorelines now like in LongIsland,New York and other parts of the Northeastern shoreline. I have a few friends living along that area too and I hope that they are safe. |

quote Letusdoit : I've just read, that freaking Hannah killed nearly 500 people only in Haiti. :( I feel so bad for all of the Haitians and the people on the islands that have been hit hard with Tropical Storm Hannah; and other storms that recently have gone through those areas in the last few weeks. Hurricane Ike just went through Haiti as well as the other islands in the past couple days. It's also heading for Cuba and somewhere between Louisiana and Texas. Haiti and other places surely need to have help with storm relief efforts real soon. |

Do you mean they wash out sand from beaches and make them unsuitable for beaching and swimming? -------------------- Is your Pussy tight and juicy???

As I know some european countries also suffer from such coastal erosions. It depends on what kind of coastline they have.

quote Lonelitude : As I know some european countries also suffer from such coastal erosions. It depends on what kind of coastline they have. You're right lonelitude; there are some european countries that deal with coastal erosion as well. I think I read a report a while back also that said places like Brussels,Belgium, and other surrounding countries as well as Asia are having major problems with coastal erosion. Most of the erosion is caused by storms, high winds, and high waves wearing away at the coastlines. Some of the problems they reported were also in mining and residential communities along the coatlines. I think that they said something about having a plan to help stop all the eroding soon. |

quote Letusdoit : quote Kotikkk : The lower is country, the more is danger for its coasts. Dams, dams, dams...) Not only for its coasts, be sure. You're right Letusdoit about the dams. There are a lot of dams everywhere that surely need to be fixed and upgraded. One of the places I have in mind right now is Louisiana. They still have a lot of work to do on their dams to keep flooding out of the state. There are other dams all over America as well as all over the world that really need to be worked on for the safety of all people. |

As I know of Louisiana the dam was broken by wind flooded waters, wasn't it...or maybe it was overflown.

quote Letusdoit : As I know of Louisiana the dam was broken by wind flooded waters, wasn't it...or maybe it was overflown. Yes, Letusdoit, the dams were overflown by flooding waters there. The dams also were not repaired or upgraded to handle high flood waters at the time that the storm went through. |
